Women and Online Bingo

A recent survey has shown that more than 85% of online Bingo players are women, as compared to 40% in 2004. Middle aged women and older ladies are really hooked on to the game big time, gradually moving themselves apart from traditional land based versions of the same.

It is believed that women are finding it easier to socialise in virtual chat rooms than in real life. Experts opine that a large appeal of the game lies in the concept of creating online community for instant messaging and e-mailing in chat rooms. It’s a great way to socialise without actually having to go out and meet people.

The prize money offered by the online gaming companies for winning the jackpot acts as a big incentive for these women. Researches predict that Bingo market is set to grow by 23% by 2010,and online Bingo is also set to flourish.

Traditionally the core market of online Bingo consists of older women, but more and more young women of today’s Internet savvy generation are also making their strong presence felt. Bingo is now the most important leisure activity in the UK of women between 20 and 25 years old.

In any online Bingo site, a visit to the chat room would reveal the fact that women are out numbering men. Women aged between 35 and 54 are thus the prime targets of Bingo sites’ advertising.

A survey conducted by Parlay Entertainment, one of biggest online Bingo software providers, show that women spend 50% more time each week playing Bingo than men.20% of 40 plus women play between midnight and 12 am, after finishing their days work. The average amount spent online per player per month is around £120.

According to figures released by Global Betting and gaming Consultants (GBGC), online Bingo games generated wins of£72 million in 2206,and amount expected to reach 3164 Million by 2013.Needless to say, participation of women in generating this amount is commendable.
